KEYBOARD FESTIVAL UK. We are packing our bags….We are off this Saturday 4th October to our twice yearly 7 day Keyboard Festival, returning Saturday 11th. Hoping to see a few new products during the week. Often new products are shown and demonstrated at this Festival well before they reach the shops. The 7 days consists of manufacturers’ product demonstration and hands on tutorials. Free music and theory lessons throughout each day. Evening concerts produced by Professional players from around the world. USA. Germany. Holland. Australia. Japan. Gr Britain. Late night jam sessions until the early hours by some of these very same players. Good food. Nice hot swimming pool. With a commercial like this you would think I could go free…Ha!!!!

If I find new products worth a mention I will make up a report of my findings upon my return 12th October.

Graham,

Bend a few Pints for me mate, wish I could come along. Sounds like a lot of fun. Wish the bloaks in the states would do something like this.

It puzzles me also that other countries don't have these Keyboard Festivals because looking at it from a manufactures and dealers business point of view. Where else can you have a captive audience of mature financially viable people locked into a friendly selling environment for 7 full days.
Believe me there is a lot of product sold during the week, new & used. Uncle Dave would be in his element...Ha!!!
18 months ago when I owned a Korg i30 I mentioned all the above to the Korg MD, they never attended because they thought it wasn't for them. However the following Festival Korg did attend and they have been at every Festival since sell product.

Graham.

We have talked about having a convention. Maybe we should have it in the UK in conjunction with the keyboard festival. That would be pretty centrally located for all of the members around the world.

Tom. In fact we have a contingent of Americans every year at each Keyboard Festival. This October Bill Horn is bringing 40 over from USA. Last April Bill Erwin came with 40 from the states. They usually have a week in London or Scotland followed by a week at the Keyboard Festival.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bill Irwin about 30 years ago. The music store for whom I worked hired him to come in and do a concert and a clinic. Afterward we all went out and had dinner together. He is a great guy and it is good to see he is still doing well. His organ arrangements were a big part of my music lessons. Does the visiting group from America have a name?
